Inspired by the notion of fragility, Sam Symondson's jewellery explores how memories and fragile emotions can be presented in a more definite form, providing a way for fragile elements to be preserved forever in metal.

Old, found photographs form the basis for investigations into how fragile memories and experiences are. They provide a way to remind us of past times and spark the imagination, even upon viewing an anonymous photo. Acid etching, hand forming and wire drawings are used to create delicate jewellery that can be worn as a permanent representation of the past. Precious metals, brass and copper are chosen to signify how care must be taken with our memories.
